Thermographic Surveying
Thermographic surveys are generally carried out to ensure continuity of the insulation and can highlight any defects.
The survey shall be carried out with due regard to the procedure outlined in BRE Report 176 A practical guide to infrared thermography for building surveys.
This document is referenced in the Building Regulations 2002 Approved Document L2. The guidance given by ISO 6781 Thermal Insulation - Qualitative detection of thermal irregularities in building envelopes - infrared method and ASTM C 1060 shall also be taken into account.
The survey is normally carried out at night to avoid the effects of solar radiation.
BREEAM credits can be gained by carrying out a thermographic survey.
